Nover underrate the public's in- telligence! That's an axiom strictly adhered to by Director Arthur- Hop- kina whose first photoplay endeavour, "His Double Life," is now playing at the Alhambra Theatre, with Illian Gish and Roland Young in atarring roles. Based upon Arnold Bennett's novel The Great Adventure, this picture was planned for an intelligent audience-without the cumbersome cliches of the average motion picture. "I've always worked on the theory that the pubile knows a good thing," declares Mr. Hopkins, "and in making pictures I'm going to stick to int theory," For twenty years of his successful career as a producer playa ho has added to that theory. He fostered the careers of the Barry: more John, Llonel and Ethel. He brought Nazimora to the American stage in a cycle of Ibsen plays, when fow American producers dared at tempt those drainas.
