A rehearsal of the FA Cup final will be seen at the Maine Road ground on Saturday! when Portsmouth and Manchester City come into conflict.

I do not suppose for one moment that it will will be a full dress rehearsal however, though there is a rule against a side deliberately playing its weakest team !-

It will be an opportunity for some of the players to try themselves out. but the big guns will be fairly will aubdued. Portsmouth's

Another match of even more interest is that at the Highbury ground where Arsenal meet their closest rivals for the League championship.

It could almost be said that this is Huddersfield's last hope to make a fight for the coveted honour as, if they lose, they will be four points behind with no games in hand.

Spurs received a setback at the hands of Stoke who seem to have filled the role of giant-killera this season, and the White Hart Lane club would appear to be due for another defeat at the Baseball ground. The Rams are an exasperating club to support but they seem to be the bogey team of the Londoners.

THE "BOOBY" TEAM

Lincoln are fairly sure of being the booby team of the Second Division but it is only their sheer inability to collect points either at home or away that has saved Manchester United from being bottom. The United have given a scarcely better exhibition and though Millwall have only an equal number of points, they have at least had their moments of good form.

As I anticipated a week ago, Chesterfield showed better stay- ing power than their rivals from Stockport and they have again placed a fair margin of safety behind them.

Barnsley are making a late spurt which has brought them

to second place and they have a sporting chance of going higher

if they can stand the cracking pace set by the Salter Lane eleven..

Chesterfield were relegated at the end of last season but they are going all out to regain their lost status.

Rochdale are in a position similar to Lincoln but it is a tussle between Rotherham and and Mansfield as to who will ac- company them on the relegation route, Crewe and Chester are
