GOOD FOOTBALL FARE PROMISED
(By "Veritas").
The first of the two obstacles which now confront St. Joseph's in their quest for the league championship will be met on Saturday, when they entertain the Lincolns, present leaders, at Caroline Hill.
If the Lincolns are to hold their present position at the end of the season they must win, for they have already dropped three more points than St. Joseph's and the Borderers, their! closest rivals, and one more than the Navy, who have still an out- side chance for the champion- ship.

LOSER'S PLUCKY FIGHT IN THE EARLY STAGES
(By "Voritna").
The manner in which, Tsui Wai-pui yester- day won the Hongkong open singles tennis championship was a vivid illustration of the rapid development to a state of maturity which his game has undergone during the past years or
So.
He played exceptionally clever tennis under aggravating con- ditions to bent Tam Yoc-long in straight sets 12-10, 6-2, 6-2, and apart from some moments of Indecision in the first set when he lost half a dozen_set_points, played comparatively flawless tennis.

Tam was a good loser, his fight to avoid the loss of the initial set baing specially meritorious. But he lacked the wiles of his op- ponent, and also the experience necessary to counter Taul's clover variations in length, pace and direction. Furthermore the effects of Monday's gruelling match with Ho Kat-lau was manifest, and he failed to stay the course after the first set.
