MORGENTHAU AROUSES RESENTMENT

HOUSE TO VOTE ON BILLS

Washington, Mar, 16.

Mr. Morgenthau's statement on the silver question has merely served to strengthen the doser- mination of some of the silver advocates to force legislation through Congress, somo of his remarks having apparently got their backs up.

Mr. Rainey, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, declared to-day: "We are going to test silver sentiment in the House whather Mr. Morgenthau Ikes it or not."

He announced that he will permit the House to vote on Monday on the two Bills recently presented, one, authorising Government purchases' of silver up to 1,500,000,000 ounces and the other authorising a twenty- Vive per cont. premium on foreign) silver used for the purchase of American agricultural produce.
