LEMBERG'S PROMISE TO PULL

MY FANCIES FOR THE PROGRAMME

(By "Captain Foster")

The outlook promises a fairly good course to-morrow, but I do not think we shall see much reversal in form in the two principal races. Able Amazon will win the Australian Ponies Champion and Classic Hall will, in my opinion, account for the Professional Cup and Subscrip- tion Griffins' Champion.

The first and second races will be the Flemington Plate, and I think The Ni Denperandum Stakes (inhe will be followed home by two sections) for Subs of the Meet- Alacrity and Nell Gwyn. Alacrity, ing that have started at least twice and have not won, the distance be ing one milc. I do not know in which section the ponies will start, but I think the following six ponies will fill the six places, viz:-

Chow Fan, City View, Copper Idol.

Ironsides, fed Fox, Sara bande.

In my mind, thia pony would have won alther The Leighton Hill Stakes or The North- ern Stakes on Wednesday last but the Owner did not enter him for cither of these racea. The pony ran his first race in The Tower Stakes on the second day, in which he ran a good fourth to Surprise, Young Chop and Chow Fan. In his only other outing on the third dny in The Peking Stakes (1 mile), he ran second to Young Chap with Sarabande in the third position.

Sarabande has run consis- tently well throughout the Meet ing, and I pick either of these two ponies to win if they do not clash, but, if they do, Copper Idol is my fancy, Ironsides pulled up lame after finishing third to Chesterfield and

BRADMAN IS AS GOOD

RECOVERS HIS POISE AFTER TEST MATCH SHOCKS

The heavy scoring in first-class cricket indulged in by Don Bradman in Australia last year has led to many observers believing that he is a greater batsman than ever, writes C. J. Davis in the SydneyReferoo.

The fire he underwent last season, when Larwood 100 and Voce were operating, has brought out new phases in his batsmanship, and he has now recovered his poise completely.
