CORNWALL LOSE TO CLUB
BAD CONDITIONS PREVAIL
(By "LINE-OUT.")
"The Cornwall were unfortun- ate to play their first match against the Club "A" on a field almost thoroughly water logged, which made good hand- log impossible. They were beaten finally by one goal, a penalty goal and three tries (17 points) to nil
Adapting themselves more quick- ly to the conditions the Cornwall had much the better of the play in. tempting to back the ball and set the early stages, the Club at
their three quarters going. Con- sidering the state of the field, several good movements resulted, but th Club soon realised that kick and rush methods were more advantageous.

In the first half the only score came from Peers, who ran well down the wing to beat the full back and scored between the posts. He however fouled with the kick. After half time there was only one side in it. The Club's forwards took all before thorn, and rushing the ball up to the Cornwall's line scored re- peatedly. Walkden who played an very stout game at forward, scored twice, Peers kicked a penalty, and Turner cut through nicely from the twenty-five line to slide over the line for a try which was converted by Peera.
On a dry day the Cornwall should be a strong side, Their tackling was hard, and their backs are fast. They have a very fine serum half In Wobster.DRA
For the Club, Noble played a good game at full back, and Meeke worked the serum well. He scem- ed to be able to handle the wat ball better than most.
It was a great game to play in, and in spite of the adverso condi- tions several bright bits of foot- ball were witnessed.
