ARMY READY FOR EMERGENCIES
RUMOURS OF HAPSBURG RESTORATION
ULTIMATUM EXPIRY
VIENNA, FEB. 28.
EVENTS IN AUSTRIA ARE BEING WATCHED WITH THE CLOSEST ANXIETY. THE AIR IS FULL OF RUMOURS AND AGAIN THERE ARE REPORTS OF FIGHTING ON THE AUSTRO GERMAN FRONTIER.
These rumours of "incidents" on the border are baseless, according to Dr. Dollfuss, who granted an interview to Reuter last night.
:
The Chancellor insisted that all was quiet in all parts of Austria. Precautions have been talten to prevent any incident on the German border.
He emphasised that no movement of troops has been ordered to the Czecho-Slovakian frontier. The Govern- ment had merely ordered a movement of Auxiliary Corps formations in Upper Austria to maintain public security. -Reuter.
