A BOLD SCHEME IN LEEDS

The Housing Committee of the Leeda Corporation has just recom-¡ mended a scheme of rent robates which goes further than any at- tempt hitherto made to adjust the rents of municipal tenants to their nbillly to pay. There is every prospect that the scheme will be nassed by the City Council, and if It is the outcome will be anxiously watched by other local authorities.

No new principle is involved: the Greenwood Act expressiv em- nowered the charging of different rents to different tenants, and twenty-one towns which have built houses under this Act have sel aside part of their subaldy as a nool from which small abatements are allowed to families whose in. anccifted Come falls short of n
