ONE MATCH

AFTER a goalless first half, Shanghai and Tientsin scored six goals between them and thus drew in the first leg of the triangular Shanghai's Interport football tournament in Shanghai yesterday. equalising goal came five minutes from time, after some of the most thrilling exchanges imaginable.

The Interport programme was altered, the original arrangements providing for the Shanghai-Hongkong clash on Chinese New Year's Day. As a result, however, of yesterday's match, Hongkong are now in the position of needing only to win and draw against Shanghai and Tientsin to re-capture the Telegraph Cup, won from them last year by Shanghai.

Shanghai, Feb. 14. THE first match of the triangular

football Interport tournament was played here this afternoon, when Shanghai (holders of the trophy) and Tientsin, challengers, drew after a brilliant match, each side scoring three goals.

ALL of the goals were scored in

the second half, when some as- tornishing football was seen, excit ing the big crowd to a display of wild enthusiasm as Shanghai drew level for the last time only a few

THE first triangular tournment to

include Tientsin was in 1930. Again Shanghai were successful. Since then Hongkong and Shanghai have vied for the trophy. In 1931 Hongkong were beaten here by the odd goal in seven. They made the trip to Shanghai in November 1932, and contrary to all expectations won brilliantly by the same score.

THIS was the first occasion on which Hongkong won on foreign

soil.
