A VIRTUAL STATE OF CIVIL WAR EXISTS OVER A WIDE AREA, THE SOCIALIST UPRIS- ING HAVING EXTENDED TO AT LEAST FIVE STATES.

Vienna, Feb. 12. Vienna to-night presents the appearance of an armed camp. Police and troops with rifles and fixed bayonets are patrolling the streets, many of which have been fenced in with barbed-wire.

Machine-guns are posted outside police headquarters and other im- portant points.

During the firing to-day, rifles, machine-guns and even artillery were active in the centre of the city.

GRAZ FATALITIES

Twenty-six are reported to have been killed and over two hundred wounded and injured at Graz, where the Socialists captured the police station after a battle with the polles and were then bosieged by troops.-Renter's Special Ser- vice.
