London, Jan. 10.

In view of the observations on the subject in the report of the Royal Commission, of 1929-1931, on the Civil Service, Sir John Simon, Foreign Secretary, has ap- pointed a Committee to review the question of admission of women to the Diplomatic and Consular services; and to furnish a roport thereon, for his information.

The Commitleo consists of Sir Claud Schuster, Chairman, Sir Ronald Graham, Sir Roderick Mei- klejohn, Sir James Rac, Miss Rit- son and Miss Martindale, Messrs. Howard, Smith and Dunlop, with J. W. Nicholls acting as Secretary, At the preliminary meeting this wook the Committee decided its eeting should be private and that it would, at its discretion, hear oral evidence."

The observations of the Royal Commission, referred to above were: "The question whether wo- men should be admitted to these services raises issues of high policy, which can only be deter- mined by the Government. We note that the matter was reviewed by the Government at the time of the passing of the Sex Disquali acation Removal Act. We think the question should not be re- garded as settled for all time by the decision then reached. Hav- ing regard to the time which has since einpsed, we recommend that government should again examine the position at an early date. British Wireless.
