I know two sisters who are as unlike as sisters can possibly be.

I know them as little girls, too.

One was a dreamer. The other

was one of the most stirring chil- dron I have ever met. She had to be doing the most senseless things! just to keep moving. She wore the family out, with her ceaseless activity,

As she grew older she was always planning parties. Every night was party night. Her mother get tired of the fuss and expense, but that. didn't daunt Mary. She would get together some sort of a lunch her. solf and go to the phone and call

I believe Helen could have been saved. Mary did not need saving because she was strong willed enough not to let her family dis- courage her. If their mother had made Helen do some real work, nót necessarily on her painting, but say, doing housework taska, and not accepting excuses, Helen would have learned what reallem meant and that you cannot get anywhere by sticking your head in the clouds. The work habit once instilled transfers itself to any think, even art. She was encour- aged by her mother to think that life handed the chosen-of-the-gods everything. If she had any real enthusiasms as Mary had she would have saved herself.

The dreamer type of child will be his own worst enemy unless he can be given compensatory weapons such as the work habit to carry him through,
