THREE CHAMPIONS EVENTS TO ATTRACT RACEGOERS
This is how Gordon Richards equalled Fred Archer's record of 246 win.. He is moen passing the winning post on El Senor in the Mitre Selling risin at Hurst Park. (Planet News),
MACAO'S BEST MEETING
MR. FROST'S SHREWD JUDGMENT ON WAKEFIELD
(By "Captain Foster")
The Meeting at Macao was an immense success, the fields were good, with close finishes in the majority o1 races, and jockeyship seen at its best. Those racing enthusiasts that made the journey from Hongkong were unanimous in voting the Meeting at the Portuguese Colony to be one of the best seen for many a long day.
Altogether a very pleasant day was spent at Macao and I shall not be surprised to see a large and enthusiastic attendance at the next Meeting which will be held on January 14, 1934. The Stewards, I understand, are preparing a very attractive pro- gramme of seven events, handicaps for 'D' and 'E' class ponies predominating.
Purely as an experiment, no 1 understand, the steamer Taishan last Sunday was berthed at a new Wharf in the inner harbour, shor- toning the journey very appreciab- ly, and it is to be hoped that steamers lor future Meetings will go to the same Wharf, as, apart from curtailing the voyage unch way by half an hour, at feast, the drive to the course is much quieter} and more pleasant, as one escapes the nose and traffle of the con- geated main atroots.
-
I fear, however, many will dis- agree with me; contending that the customary Wharf to be the more convenient for the majority of the passengers, ne they usually sociate the trip with shopping and the more important flutter at Fantan. The Steamboat Co.. will doubtless give this matter thoir attention, and will arrange their next berthing to meet the wishes of the masses.
The Racing
Pure Music ran away with the Novico Handicap (the opening raco) by aix longthe pulling up. This was the tameat race of tho

Sporting Chatter By Capt. Foster
A NEW DERBY CANDIDATE
(By "Captain Foster")
Since September last when Derby Griffins commenced to arrive in the Colony in batches, and when each batch made their appearance on the course, all and sundry had their say in selecting the winner of next year's chief Classic. No less than seven griffins have already been pointed out to me as the potential winner, and every one of them has sinco faded into obscurity.
HOW GORDON DID IT
GREAT FEAT DESCRIBED
Fifty thousand people flock- ed to Hurst Park to see Richards Do It, writes & homeskie sporting correspond-| ent in describing how Fred Archer's record was equalled.
It rained in torrents until just before the Race That Made History. But they did not care. They put up umbrellas and went on talking eagerly about Richards, Richards, Richards.
He was riding in six races. It seemed impossible that he could manage to win at least one of thee.
The first race was 1.0. He rode a horse called Stratfold. It started favourite-but it finished nowhere.
The crowd refused to be down- cast. And as the sun came out for the next race they looked up and. said. "It's an omen."
THE GREAT HUSH. The Mitre Selling Plate was the next race. Richards came out to ride El Senor.
The race was run in deadly silence. After one mighty shout ""They're of!" the crowd was stilled. Even the bookies stop- ped shouting.
Almost under their breaths, people were muttering, "Come on, Gordon!"
And then he won! Riding superbly, reins held loosely in those sure hands, it was as if El Senor knew just how much was at stake, And he ran Ilke the wind.

very much fear that the programme at happy valley to-morrow will not be productive of keen racing, as both Diana Bay and Warring ton are almost cast-iron certainties for their respective Champion races. The Queensland Champions should however result in a good race between Night Star and Woodland Stag.
DECEMBER, HANDICAP.
Hetman should easily account for this race. Gold Key, according to my informant, will not start here, but no definite decision has been made. I think, however, he will compete in this event, in which case he will bo my second choice. Powerful King will, I think, fill the third place.
TARDY STAKES.
I do not expect to see more than three storlers here and it is, to me, n toss up whether Daylight Evo or Pride of Taingtao will be returned the winner. On form the Tally Ho entrant should win but Pride of
Taingtao is going great guns ab the moment. His gallop of one and a half miles last Saturday in 3-20 with a last half in 1-03 with 80 pct., dead for the finishing quarter was most convincing. His connections are sanguine and, I gather, are that satisfled in their own minds

Capt. Foster's Final Selections Will Appear To-morrow
Glitters are also fancied for the third position. The former pears to me to be the better stayer and will accordingly have my vote.
DILATORY PLATE.
The largest field of the day will face the startor for this race. Maria Petra galloped nicely, in company with Warrington last) Tuesday morning, and I was im pressed. Wembly Stag must be concerned with the finish and I fully expect to see him register an- other win for Messrs. Hall & Shen- ton. Ajax should be taken serious- ly and he might very easily upset the apple-cart. Stickypast "cannot be ignored, and Helter Skeltor might spring a surprise.

SAUCY FACE FINE MOVER: SUBS DO SOME HEALTHY WORK
(By "Capt. Foster")
It was cold and raw last Wednesday morning, but the weather did not prevent a good muster of Owners from attending 'the rails' to watch the morning's work. I kept my eyes open, but with as many as 250 ponies go- ing and coming off the course in the space of two hours, it was impossible for me to observe all the gallops. was, however, able to "ching" about two dozen "pows" and I give them herewith:-
