DEATH OF OLD PORTUGUESE RESIDENT

The death occurred at his roaldenco No. 471, Hennessey Road, early yesterday morning, af Mr. Phillipo Augusto Vielra Remedios, an old and respected Portugueso resident of Hongkong. at the age of 65 years.

The deceased gentleman, who was apparently in good health. passed away suddenly a victim of peritonitis, and his death came as a shock to his many friends.

He is survived by his wife. three sons, J. P. V., C. V. and A. L. V. Remedios, four married daughters, Mrs. C..F. V. Ribeiro, Mrs. J. L Alves, Mrs J. B. Pomeroy and Mrs. F. A. Joanilho, thirteen, grandchildren, and two brothers, J. J. V. Remedios and P. A: Remedios.

The deceased was for thirty years connected with the Post Office, and latterly was chief clerk in the registration department. He retired on pension about fifteen years ago.

The funeral took place yestor- day at the Roman Catholic cemetery, Happy Valley, being attonded by all his relatives and

a large number of friends.
