A verdict of death due to mis- adventure was returned by the lobe obtained on application." jury at the conclusion of the in- quiry into the death of a three- year-old child, Chan Ching-kan,j who-lost-his-life as-the-result of a fire at Taun Wan on October 13 Inst. The inquiry was resumed at the Kowloon Magistracy yesterday afternoon, being conducted by Mr. D. M. MacDougall, District Of ficer (South), the jury empanelled consisting of Messrs. R. Stock (foreman), R. Darling and H. Hyndman.

After a short absence, the jury returned the following verdict:

"We find that the deceased Chan Ching-kan, aged three years, died on October 13, 1933, by misadven- ture as the result of burns receiv ed whilst on Board sampan which was lying adjacent to the bil Lunker California which was moured to the Texaco Oil Com- pany's Installation at Taun Wan.

"No witness has stated the origin of the fire and It remains obscure. It was an oll conflagra- tlon and the evidence would make nossibly It appear that the fire originated on one of the sampans, "The installation manager was criticised in regard to the delay in informing the Police. It is, therefore, only fair to record tint on the evidence, he appears to have noted very well.

"We leave it to the proper au- thorities to consider whether any regulations in regard to danger- oua goods are required beyond those now in force at the instal lation."
