Today's Contract Problem

Today's problem presents a good lesson in psychile bidding. What psychle bid by North or South, in the following hand, might prevent Enst from go- ing game at no trump? North: A 963 2 WD 72 * KARŠAJ 10 East! AAKQ ♥AQ.

Solution to Previous Contract Problem

If Eual plays a small diamond, the declarer can be hold to alx odd. However, if the king of diamonds goes in, the declarori will win the trick with the ace and then proceed to make a grand slam in the following manner.

Ho will lead the douce of spades and trump in dummy with the deuce of hearts. A smail club is then returned and tramped, with ja small heart. Another small #pade is led and ruffed in dummy with the seven of hearts, A club is returned and ruffed. by thei declaror with the six of hearts, the queen dropping from West.

Declarer then leads the nine of spados.and. trumps with the king! of hearta. A small club is ro- turned and trumped with the eight Interfarenpa bida on the part of of hearts-West'a ace of clubs the opponents may sometimes keep dropping. Declarer then plays two strong hand from arriving at tho ace of hearts and West's the proper contract. The follow-singleton quoen drops. Two more ing hand; despite an intervening: [spude bid by West, was bld up to

six hearts by South. And the con-) tract was made because of the wrong lead by West.
