Improving on his last year's figures, but still sixteen seconds behind Jimmy Johnstone's re- cord of 1929, Lionel Roza- Pereira yesterday won the 440 yards free style open champion- ship at the V.R.C., yesterday, thus securing his third cham- pionship for 1933.

Pereira was never seriously challenged, not even by his in veterate opponent, Wilfrid Law- rerice, and in returning the time

of 6 minutes 48 2/5 seconds.
