MAJOR LEAGUE RESULTS
New York, Sept. 25." The Little World Series took on a more interesting aspect to- "day when Columbus, recovering from their first fright against Buffalo when they were beaten in the opening game by seven runs to six, reversed the decision and won the second encounter by eight runs to four.
The teams are now a game each. Four of the seven matches must be won in order to secure the title.

He was given a stiff challenge by Lionel Roza-Pereira, and de- feated his club mate only by a touch, E. B. da Roza, who ap- peared to be intent on acting as pace-maker for the rest of the competitors, lapped the first 50 yards at very fast speed, making the turn a yard and a half ahead of Pereira and two and a half yards in front of Lawrence and H. REACHED
Excellent progress was made in the Army tennis champion- ships for other ranks at Soo- kunpoo yesterday, when seven singles ties were played, filling four places in the last eight, and three doubles contests were decided, completing the first and second rounds.
Sjt. Hulford (S.W.B.) one of the "seeded" players, who is expected to figure in the final, advanced to the third round at the expense of S/S Clarke of the R.A.0.C., win- ning in straight sets. It was one of the finest cham- pionship races ever seen in the Colony.
Roza-Pereira and Lawrence also had the bath to themselves in the 100 yards opon backstroke cham- plonship. The opposition, G. J. Smith, Lee Hon-kee and Leung
Yun-hung were never in the pic
ture, and the two V.R.C. stalwarts contested the race in comparatively leisurely style.
It appeared that Lawrence would
gain his second title of the open- ing day's events, but Pereira over took him in the final longth and won with much less difficulty than Lawrence, bad, in the 100 yards free style.

The Club led at half-time by two goals to. nil, both netted by Divett. Early in the second stanza, the Indiana found the net through the centre-forward. However, the civilians attack tho continued to penatrato Indians defence, and Divett added. the third goal, followed shortly by another by MacNidor. A few minutes later, MacNider had bad luck with a fast rising shot that just grazed the cross-bar. To wards the end, Divett found the net to registor the. civilians fifth goal.
