WARSHIPS SENT IN SEARCH
TURNS UP SAFE.
London, Sept. 22. British naval vessels and seaplane were scouring the English Channel to-day for signs of a German seaplane which it was feared had been lost with mails from the United States.
The seaplane was yesterday catapulted from the crack Ger- manner, Brèmon, when ap proaching the "Irish coast as is. habitually done on both sidus of the Atlantic.
The machine, for which the Admiralty sent out boats in vain, arrived safely at Southampton early this afternoon, following of night of buffeting in the Channel.
After flying for about 600 miles. from the Bremor" the pilot and mechanic lost their bearings and decided to come down on the water in daylight although netu ally they had enough petrol for another hour's flight which would have enabled them to reach Southampton.
A Erench. fishing boat, along- side which the seaplane alighted, towed the plane throughout the night towards Sturt Point in Devonshire. O
