IMPORTANT AIR DEVELOPMENT
FAR EASTERN AVIATION COMPANY BEHIND SCHEME
DEFINITE PLANS
(SPECIAL TO THE “TELEGRAPH”). Hongkong is probably destined to become one of the most important civil aviation training centres in the Far East as the result of a project, brief details of
which the Telegraph is able to announce this afternoon. In line with the Hongkong Government's policy in providing facilities here for the Colony's future im portance as an Eastern Air Junction is a scheme, which has been definitely approved, under which the Far Eastern Aviation Company will establish here: within a few months, a Flying Training School.
Pupils of the School will not be confined to residents of the Colony. Applications have already been received from budding pilots in China and others are expected. A high standard of training in all branches of aviation will be provided.

The Colony had a mild typhoon scare this morning but at the time of going to presa, there was good reason to believe that not even a gale is likely to be experienc- ed.
In conversation with the Tele- graph this afternoon, Mr. C.W. Jeffries, Director of the Royal Observatory, stated that the dis- turbance had been unusual in many ways. Its rate of travel,:20 miles per hour, was abnormal and the rainfall had been very small. The highest squall velocity was 07 miles per hour from the N.N.E, at 9.65 nm, occurring before the barometrie minimum was register-
ed.
BAROMETER MOVEMENT.
Another interesting feature was that the barometer fell one-tenth between . a.m. and 10 am, and rose with almost equal rapidity between 11 am, and noon,
After the first squall; the wind rapidly moderated to- freshen against 12.30 pm. with breezes from the south and south-west.
