The U. S. Navy balloon, piloted TO-DAY'S BROADCAST. by Lieutenant Commander T. G. Settle landed to-night near. Bram- ford, Conn., and was believed to have a good chance to take the 1938 Gordon Bennett air raco, which started here Saturday.
Settle was obliged to come down earlier than the condition of his balloon necessitated because he was about to drift out to soa.
He brought his balloon down at 10.45 p.m. after travelling approx- imately 700 miles.
Settle's landing was the third reported out of alx balloons which started.
