In reaching the final for the first time in his career, Hyde-Lay has throughout revealed, exceptionally reliable form and a continuance of this will make him a difficult player either for Luz or Bradbury to beat.

HOPWOOD'S ALL ROUND FORM
London, Aug. 29. Interest in the county crickot championship is rapidly declin- ing. Next week will see the last games being played, and although the title is no longer at stake, teams will concentrate on improving their present standings in the league table.
These have not been materially affected by the latest resulta which provide victories for Surrey, Lancashire, Derbyshire and Wor- center.
Kent and Somerset managed to capture first innings points.
Among the features of the play was Derbyshire's huge score of 583 for 3 wickets. It was obtain- ed against Northants in a match which Derby won by an innings and which realised over 000 runs. Three batsmen liberally contri buted to the .enormous total, Townsend, Smith and Lee all scor- ing centuries,

Worcester were also in scoring! mood against Glamorgan and ag- gregated 402 for the loss of 4 wickets before closing the innings. Nichol, the Worcester batsmen earned the distinction of making the highest invidual score in the county games.
