COMPETITION
AMONG SHANGHAI FORCES
At the Shanghai Rowing Club pool last week the local British Forces had an Area Swimming Meeting which included competition between teams from the 93rd Highlanders, East Lancashire Regiment and the Small Units and the final result showed the first named winners with 62, to the East Lancs' 32 and the Small Units 30. Several good times were put up and some interesting diving was seen for a special trophy, the Highlanders scoring 279 to the East Lancs' 277 and the Small Units' 247.
L/C. Filden recorded very good! time for the 100 yards Breast stroke, covering the three laps of the pool in 84.4/5 seconds, and revealing that he is of champion- ship class as the local champion- ship record is only 80-1/5 seconds.
Pte. McPhee proved very sue. cessful in the straight swimming events winning the two laps in 41 seconds while he also took the 100 yards in 70 seconds. Cpl. Kildae won the 200 yards free style in 2 This provides additional interest minutes 44 seconds which is fair the final.
