SIR JOHN KEANE ISSUES WARNING
THREAT OF IR.A.
DUBLIN, AUG. 22.
STRONG FEELINGS AROUSED BY THE ACTION OF THE DE VALERA GOVERNMENT IN PROCLAIMING THE BLUE SHIRTS AN İLLEGAL ORGANISATION SHOWED THEMSELVES IN THE SENATE TO-NIGHT.
"The Blue Shirts are loyal and constitutional,
but they are men of spirit and are not likely to
stand like sheep before the slaughter," declared Sir John Keane, one of the principal speakers, who challenged the Government to proclaim the Irish Republican Army at the same time.
The challenge brought another ominous issue to the forefront, the repeated suggestions made lately that Mr. de Valera is contemplating the proclamation of an independent Irish Republic.
"The Irish Republican Army will not be suppressed until an all-Ireland Republic has been created," de- clared the leader of the Government Party in the Senate, replying to a warm-spoken debate.
