AUSTRIA.

A NEW CONSULAR

POST

OBSERVER AT INNSBRUCK

London, Aug. 22. Considerable significance

is attached to the appoint- ment of Mr. I. L. Henderson as British Consul at Inns- bruck.

The appointment constitutes the creation of a new British Con- sular post in the Austrian Tyrol, and the special importance in thei stop lies in the fact that Innsbruck is the centre of the Nazi more- ment in Austria, a regular hotbed of intrigue against the existing Austrian government.

Most of the Nazh, outrages and nets of terrorism in Austria have occurred in the Innsbruck district, or are suspected to have been plotted there.

Mr. I. L. Henderson, who is at present on the Consular staff, at Antwerp, is taking up his new duties in Austria immediately.
