The New South Coast Express for the Sydney-Nowra service was given a trial run from Sydney to It. Victoria as the Caves Express recently. Despite an overload of 15 tons, it reduced the ordinary schedule of 42 minutes to Ponrith by two minutes three seconds, and reached a maximum speed of 69.25 miles an hour over South Creek viaduct.
