ANTI-MALARIAL CAMPAIGN.

GOVERNMENT'S REPLIES TO QUESTIONS

It is the intention of the Gov- orument to carry out anti-malarial works in the neighbourhood of Kowloon Tong, as soon as circum- stances permit,

That statement was made by the Colonial Treasurer (Hon. Mr. W. T. Southorn) in answer to ques- tlona anked by the Hon. Sir Henry Pollock in the Legislative Council yesterday.

The questions were!

1. Is it not the fact that several complaints have been sent in re- cently to the Medient Officer of health with reference to malaria Jat Kowloon Tong?

2. If the answer to Question 1 is in the affirmative, what steps is the Government taking or does tho Government purpose to take for the purpose of removing the canner of auch malarin?

The Colonial Secretary replied: I. Complaints have been re- ceived by the Public Health Au- thorities

of regarding cases malaria contracted at Kowloon Tong.

2. Investigations were carried out by the Malariologist in this area In 1932, and a drainage scheme and estimates of expendi- ture are being prepared by the Public Works Department. It is the intention of Government carry out anti-malarial works in this neighbourhood as shon 13:3 circumstances permit.
