CHARTER DAY ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED
The Canton, Rotary Club held Anniversary ita Charter Day celebration on Saturday night at the Nam Yuen Restaurant, where about two hundred members and guests, including sixteen Hong- kong Rotarians, headed by their 'newly elected president, Rotarinu T. B. Wilson. With Rotarian Wil son were Rotarians H. Hong Sting, Fred Shin, I. S. Wong, S. C. Wong, J. D. Bush, A.J.R. Moss, G. W. Greene, A. E. Gerondal and Douglas
G. Howland, whilst Notarians. 1. M. Maynard. F. A. Mackintosh, H. E. Stone and N. J. Perrin were accompanied by their wives.
They were met at the station by the genial Secretary (Rotarium A. E. Quin) and nther Canton Rotarians, and were taken by ears in the hotel accommodation that had been arranged for them. Chinese Dinner.
At 8 pm, the hosts and their ladies and visitors gathered at the Nam Yuen Restaurant, and the members of the host Club lost no time in effecting introductions.
An elaborate Chinese dinner had been prepared and a very friendly atmosphere prevailed. Miss Ng Hung-dip, a sweet little Chinese girl of six, delighted the assembly with dances, and was obliged to res- pond to numerous encores.

A hornpipe was danred by Rotarian G. 1. Biggs and two #ንይ። in Italian were given by Rotarian
with A. Hofmeister. Rotarian R. Lancaster providing Mr. the piano accompaniment, K. 11. 1.0 and his excellent urchestra also contributed to the programme.
After dinner there was dancing. Over 250 were present, and it was agreed by all that the entire evening and jogramme reflected great credit on the organisers. and was an unqualified success. The party did not break up until 21.m.
The Speeches.
A notable visitor was Rotarian who has Douglas C. Howland charge of the Far East branch secretariat of Rotary Internation- al, with office for six months in in India, another six months Malaya, the next six in the Dutch East Indies and the last six in China. He expressed deep satis- action with the spirit of inter- national understanding, goodwill nud amity that he saw prevailing Rotarian
so strongly among the gathering.
Kotarian Pres, S. F. Chien of Canton in appropriate words wel-
comed all the guests including visitors from Hongkong Rotary. He WAB very happy to see so a great many guests and such number of brother Rotarians from Hongkong as compared with the: last time and he was sure fellow members, of Canton rejoiced with him.
He expressed the value of the Interchange of acquaintanceship to be and urged the members mindful of a Rotarian's obliga- tions. He cordially welcomed them to this meeting and ex- pressed the hope that it would be the fore-runner of many similar meetings.
