As to membership, you will see that the number of Vice-Presi dents has dropped by three, and I should like to thank these gentle- men for their support of the Society. The number of subs cribers remains the same, or- dinary members, however, have dropped, but still remain over one hundred. In this connection, may I recommend the advantages The of becoming a subscriber. subscriber pays. $12 per annum and receives two free tickets for one performance of each opera or concert given, with priority of booking.

The Fountain of Youth. "The Fountain of Youth" caused great diversity of opinion, proving enjoyable to some and not to others. It will be seen, how ever, that apart from the cost of the theatre, it was by far the cheapest show the Society has put on since 1024, and in cousi dering any further production, this factor must be considered. Mr. Sweet was unfortunate in that his production was not bet- ter supported, and both he and Mr. Hill deserve our heartiest thanks for all the hard work they put in applause).

Our thanks must be again given to our advertisers for their continued support and to the Freas for assistance so generously given.

It will not be possible to use the Theatre Royal Stage again for rehearsals, and the question of future activities will have to be carefully considered by the incoming committee, as it will be practically impossible to rehearse opern efficiently unless some other nlace than the Cathedral Hall can be obtained.

The question of producing at the King's Theatre again will also have to be gone into, together with the possibilities of doing less performances and other adjustments which can be consi- dered in the light of our past experience.

With regard to a possible pro- duction, I understand that a large number of our members are in favour of a Gilbert & Sullivan revival, but I should like to point out that the selection of an opera depends entirely upon the ability of the Commitice to east it, and as there is, as far as we know, no tenor in the Colony capable of sustaining a Gilbert & Sullivan part, it appears that it will be difficult to produce one of these operas. It is considered that "A Country Girl," which does not re- quire a tenor might be possible, but this is a matter which the new decide, .Committee will have to Buggestions, however, will be gladly welcomed from my mem- ber of the Society, and we shall be glad to receive the names of any singers in the. Colony who are willing to assist the Society. I will close by thanking. Mr. Best, our hardworking and eft- cient hon. secretary, for all the work he has done on our behalf, Mr. Buchanan who put in much work on our financos, and the members of the Committee for their services. (applause).

I now move the adoption of the: report and accounts.".

Professor Brown seconded, and the motion was carried.

Election of Officers,

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Pre- sident, Mr. H. B. L. Dowbiggin'; hon, secretary, Mr. J. II. Owen; hon. treasurer, Mr. L. Cole; 'com- mitte, Mesdames J. II. Shaw and Hayward, Meguru G. F. Matheson and D. M. Richards.
