"MAXIMUM TERM
IMPOSED
OBSCENE PICTURES
HAWKED
"They are pictures of the most abominable type I have ever sten during may experience in the polica," said Detective-Sergeant MacDonald at the Central Police Court this morning, when, before Mr. Wynne-Jones, he charged Young Tak, unemployed, with pos session of 195 postcards of an obscene nature.
The prosecution was the result of a complaint by a member of the community, to whom the police saw defendant hand the pictures. Defendant also offered to sell them to him at $12, per 100. Yesterday evening, Sergeant MacDonald met the defendant in Queen's Road near Battery Path and he quoted a price for the pictures, whereupon he was arrested by a Chinese detective.
His Worship imposed the maxi- mum penalty of $250, or three months' imprisonment, and ordered the postcards to be destroyed im- mediately.
