GERMANY LIKELY TO ABANDON GOLD STANDARD

TO REPAY BASLE DEBT

USING REICHSBANK'S GOLD RESERVES

LOW LEVEL OF NOTE COVER

Berlin, Apr. 6. The possibility of Ger- many abandoning the gold standard in the immediate! future is now actively being discussed.

Another probability envisaged by the financial experts of the news- papers is that the abandonment of the gold standard will be accompani- ed by a demand for a reduction of interest on her external loans.

The threat to the gold standardi in Germany is the consequence ́of } the decision of the Reichsbank, which is now under strict Govern-I ment control, to repay in gold the credit of £14,000,000 granted by the Bank of International Settle-i ments in 1931.

with the Forces.)

Long before the first streaks of dawn lined the sky this morning. HMS. Medway, the flagship of the Blueland forces in the Colony's mimic war, crept silently into Re- pulse Bay, and with a precision coming of constant practice, land- ed its 'army of invaders.

The defending Blueland forces, however, were not caught unaware

the alarm was raised, and the invaders found themselves facing annihilation. Machine gun-nests, cunningly hidden on the surround- ing hillsides, and, the advance. party of the defending forces bar. red their path, and had their guns belched forth real lead instead of dummy bullets, few. of the raiders would have lived through the fanding.

Once landed, however, there was little to stop the advance, for the main defending forces were still on the mainland.
