edition of their "Newspaper Directory of China", which in- cludes a section on Hongkong. It is a most useful publication from the advertisers point of view in particular, as the address- es, size, number of pages, and eirculations of each newspaper, Chinese end English-language alike, are given, as well as the potential reading public in each) aren.

The tabulated reading-public Agres are specially valuable as they show how many people in pro portion to population are reached, and in Hongkong it is shown that the figure is as high as 1,697 per 10,000, which is exceeded only by Shanghat It is pointed out in the publiebers' preface, however, that many more people read the papers than is Indicated in these figures, which deal with circula- tion returns, for In China, in par ticular, newspapers are passed on through many hands.
