THE WORLD OF WOMEN

Fashion is putting chic women into stripes for early Spring. But such lovely stripes!

Sheer candy-stick stripes in gay. young red, white and blue, organ- dy, sleek black and white striped diaphanous fabrles, novel striped shirtings for day time wear and all manner of striped suitings and. coatings for the street.

Among the newest are the strip- ed organdy evening things. They have spring in their crisp char- acter; they have life and a pleasing gaiety in their colouring." And they are fashioned with all the new style notes embodied in them.

If you are a sophisticated wom- an, somewhat tired of all the ruffles, furbelows and puffs that the winter has introduced, and which you have always felt be. longed to the picturesque 13-year- old, you will be intrigued by the simple beauty of a black and white striped organdy for early spring parties.

Diagonal Stripes

It has a graceful, circular cape cut in its bodice, with the atripes " running diagonally down to a V front, for diversity. The skirt is cut more on the straight than many winter things, gored, if you please, so that it fits snugly, flares at about flounce height and is belt- ed with the straight of the goods.

You wear it over a long white Ratin slip, so that the organdy, in addition to its fresh crispness, takes on a sophisticated quality of subtle gleaming. It is the kind of dress you'll be utterly comfortable in, mainly because it is so flatter- Ing and new. The smart sories are either dead white, some- thing not too heavy or else jet, for a choker necklace and ear- ritrs, and a bracelet or two.

Books are Eternal

Treasures.

It seems almost incredible that: in this day and era a child could grow up without books. I mean books in the home. Yet a girl of seventeen sighed the other day as she said she wished she had had books when she was a little girl.

Didn't Know Cinderella

As I carefully leafed through this wonderful book she said, "Do: please look at the illustration of Cinderilla."

"Who?"

"Cinderilla! It is so absolutely lovely."

corrected rudely,

"Oh, you mean Cinderella,"
