EXPERIENCE IN SIMILAR JOB

The appointment of the first woman ever to hold a Prezi- dential Cabinet post in the history of the United States was nounced to-day.

The honour has fallen upon Miss Frances Perkins, who bas been appointed Secretary of the Labour Department in the Roo- sevelt Administration.

"The Cabinet has been completed with the aimultaneous appoint- ments of Senator T. J. Walsh, of Montana, as Attorney-General, and Mr. D. C. Roper as Secretary of Commerce.

Miss Perkins is now New York State Commissioner of Labour, the first and only woman to hold even. a State, cabinet job. She was ap- painted by Governor Roosevelt in 1929.

She has been identified with in- dustrial welfare wark since 1910, when she took first public poaf- tion-Secretary of the Consumers' League and has held innumer- able important positions in the in. dustrial welfare field.
