WOMEN IN 'BUSINESS.

By Edith Beesley

THE WORLD OF WOMEN

Woman's entry into business life has been revolutionary, The break-up of the old order o things, due to the war, gave wo- man her opportunity, and she grasped it eagerly. The effect can now be seen in her success in ncurly every branch of commercial life.

This state of affairs is that - a) challenga to men, but rather a go- operative participation in the nation's work. It in really a ro turn to primitive times when men and women worked aide by side to retain their place in the early struggles of life.

The position is somewhat similar to-day, only modernised. The new world born of the Inte war Jenils for the intense co-operative effort of men and women to make good the claims, the aims, and the aspirations of the new civilisation.

To-day every woman who has gained a place of power and service elaims to have had some inspira- tion, outside her personal ambi- tion that has helped her along the road to success.

"Woman and Labour," that. wonderful, thought-provoking book by Olive Schreiner, and the much later work of Benjamin Kild, "The Science of Power." have both been a great inspiration to No woman who reads "Wo- nic. man and Labour" can be unaffect- ed by the tremendous sincerity of its writer, nor remain unconscious of the future place of women in the work of the world.

There two books, showing how woman has finally triumphed after Cages of struggle to gain recogni- tlon, must cronte confidence in anyone who wishes to take her place in modern business,

The position of the woman who has the goods and the gifts to oller is assured, in spite of the obstacles which still linger in her path. She is gradually tuming these obstacles into opportunities.
