DANCING EXHIBITION.

CLEVER DISPLAY AT KING'S RESTAURANT YESTERDAY Giving a delightful exhibition of English ballroom dancing, Mr. Leslie Buckle und Miss Edith New- man, well-known championship dancers.. yesterday entertained a big gathering at the King's Re- staurant tea and dinner dances.

It is very seldom that Hongkong has the opportunity of seeing an exhibition of ballroom dancing an it is performed among the leading exponents In England to-day, and It is no exaggeration to say that Mr. Bucklo and Miss Newman, who have won honours in open cham plonships at Home, fully came up to expectations.

At both dances they demonstrat- ed the waltz, slow foxtrot, fox-trot and quick stop, each being per- formed with charming artistry and embodying the latest principles of modern dancing. They enjoyed an onthusiastic reception, and it is to be hoped that this will not bo In their last public appearance Hongkong ballrooms.

Both competed in the Midlands Championship and the Columbla All-England Championships in 1930, being finalists in the former and winning through to the semi- Anal of the latter in face of com- petition of some of England's leading dancera.

An added attraction, and one in which the company thoroughly re- velled, was the appearance of Mr. G. F. d'Aquino, popular local tenor, who gave a series of songs in his best stylo, his popular song-

hit numbers being especially well

rezeived.

"Gory" and his "Melodians" provided the music, and the King's Restaurant management can rest satisfied in the success of the event, which reflects the utmost credit on all concerned.
