SILENT SERVICES PUZZLE
[By "Bully-Off"] TIE sudden decision arrived at by the Mamak Hockey Tourna ment (and particularly the CALMON for this declaton) to reconstitute tha competition, will be received with mixed feeling by the hockey frater- nity of Hongkong. In bowing to the envitable and passing the resolution they have, namely that no trophy will
be offered, but that the Mamak
Langue will remain in existence pure- ly as a meanя of providing
clubs with regular games, I am sure they were right. What puzzlea me is why then "unforeseen circumstances" as the resolution had it, over arose.

If so, why only wake up to the fact weeks after- the tournament hus been in pro- gross, with its rules and regulations t formulated and passed, and the whole competition well under way? I on the other hand they did not appre clate, their position at the beginning of the season then it would appear that some had blundered.

IN many quarters the opinion was expressed that the reason for
be
the Mamak Tournament Committee taking the steps they did was cause of Rule 15 of the
English Hockey Aasnciation. That IM only half the truth, and it was left to the Telegraph, yesterday to make publie the real cause, which has been reitera- rou
above. Even now the Blaninh tournament is not directly affected by English Hockey Associations rules, and can only be so if, and when, the Mamak tournament, or a local Hockey Association becomes affiliated to, the rarent body at Home.
THE
HE reconstitution of the Mamak League will entail the scrap- ping of one or two existing rules governing the tournament. Rule 2 which states that the Tournament is played for a shield in one that will have to go, and another in Rule 22, which states that if at the end of thre tournament leading toamn should have an equal number of polata, a deciding mintch for the Shield is to be played.
