the Gorann brothers initiating all the raids on the Athletic goal, and from one, B. Gosano, receiving from his brother, took deliberate alm and acored with a cleverly directed shot. This was not the final incident. St. Joseph's continued to apply pres sure and in the last minute L. Sausa found himself in possession only a few yards from goal, but he shat weakly Into the goalkeeper's hands.

GUNNERS. POOR SHOOTING

BUT POLICE WELL

DEFEATED

The Royal Artillery, described last week in these columns as the "Dark Horns" of the league continu- ed to display good from when they met and defeated the Police by the add goal in three on Saturday.

Only ragged finishing and Inne- curate marksmanship prevented them running up a.bigger tally, whilst the absence of Bryant as a goal scoring medium, was a farther factor in this direction.

major The Guners enjoyed the portion of the exchanges and attacked for lengthy periods, particularly in the closing aingea when the Police goal was the scene of a fierce bom- bardnient. The offensive, however, was unproductive, and by curious chance it was during this part of the game that the Police obtained their only goal.

TEAM WORK.

The Artillery indulged in the same type of football which earned for them their victory against the Lincoins the previous Saturday. The eleven play- ers worked together with a good uns derstanding and adopted open passing | tactics with distinct success,

The defence was perfectly safe with Allan outstanding. He was for 100 elever for Johnson the energetic Police lender and Interport trial player, and his fast and decisive tackling reduced the police forwards to impotency.

Pardor, the selected interport centre-half Invited further con- fidence with a first rate display. showing tremendous improvement in his service to the Gunners for- ward line. He was danked by two confident spoilers in Collier and flodgers.

HASTY SHOOTING.

Up forward the chief danger to the Police defence came from the loft wing, where Sent middled with his usual accuracy, although he was o casionally a little too henvy in his kicks the ball going right across goal. The tendency of the whole forwardt line, however, to shoot hastily, was inexcusable. It robbed the team of additional goals and rendered fruitless the well-planned and carried out ap- pronch work.

THE HONGKONG TELEGRAPH. MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 1932.

The Police, fairly sulxlued in all de- partments, wure never very inspiring, Johnson was given wretched support and could make little headway on his Owi The rear-line was constantly in difficulties, although Minty, in goal, put up a brave show and could not avoid the points scored against him.

The Gunners netted twice in the first half, Walker and Gough being the marksman, whilst Pile responded for the Police."
