CARGO JUNK PIRATED
HAUL MADE BY FREEBOOTERS
A piracy in Chinese waters has been reported to the Water Police by the master of a cargo junk which arrived at Shnukiwan late last night.
It appears that junk No. 4847, of which Li Tak was the master, left Leung Shun Wan, Snikung, British territory, on the morning of
himself and two fokis. The cargo consisted of 42 baga of sugar valued at $200. three baskets of matches valued at $14. 80 packets of cigarettes valued at $14.
On the way to Tai Tamsul, the junk met a Hoklo fahing junk, which came alongside, and six men boarded Li Tak's-junk. These men, it was reported, were armed with a Prifle, a revolver and daggers and bayonets. They drove Ll Tak and the two folis into the hold and took the junk to an unknown part of the coast where they landed all the, cargo with the exception of 11 bags of sugar.
The pirates also took away with them three suits of Chinese clothing valued at $5, and $150 in Hongkong money.
