WARDER'S DEATH

VERDICT OF SUICIDE RETURNED

A verdict of "Suicide whilst temporarily insane" was returned at the Kowloon Magistracy yes. terday afternoon when Mr. But- tera, allting as Coroner, conduct- circum- ed an inquiry Into the

stances surrounding the death of Warder Maurice Friend, who was found with a bullet wound in his head on the morning of October 24.

The jury empanelled consisted of Mesara, Christian Lauritsen (foreman), Jone Banaq Autloquin and John Gardner.

The Arst witness called was Dr. R. II; Uttley, of the Kowloon Múr- tuary, who testified that at 9.30 a.m. on October 24 he examined Warder Maurice the body of

Warder Pile, stationed at La}- chlkok Prisan, said he had been there for about two months. At 2 a.m. on October 24. he woke up and noticed that deceased, who was sleeping a few feet away from him, was muttering to himself. Witness could not bear what he wag suying.
