of the One of the best matches season was the result of the meeting in the Mamak tournament at King's Park yesterday between the 24th Battery R.A., and H.M.S. Tamar. The Battery won by three goals to two.
The exchanges throughout were even and the standard of play was higher than that witnessed in many of the games to-date. The reason for this was the excellent combination and the eventdeas in prowess of the opposing factions.
The Naval alde was well served by the centre half, Downs, who broke up attack after attack levelled at their Injury to the foot and was forced to goal. Unfortunately he received an Aleave the field for a while.

THE team to represent the Med- way in the Mamak competition also enjoys a reputation that can not be discounted and they are no doubt the strongest of the naval Sandakan units in the league. Eighteen Straits players have been signed on an Amoy eligible to play, all past masters in the art of hockey, and the selection of the strongest team will require not a little thought.
10 excellent are the revisiona mada in the rules of hockey by the International Hockey Board that they do not call for comment. Many the legues which, in the past, have caused such confusion are now made clear and they have been readily accepted by the Mamak tournament committee and other clubs in the Colony. The rule which is likely to cause the great- at trouble is that which states that in stopping the bali neither toot nor leg may be used in sup nort of the stick. This practice has been used freely in the past and in the games which have been played since the publication of the les has been responsible for the fremment blowing of the whistle. Another revision which is likely to cause concern for a while is that h regard to the bully, it being now decreed that only the fat face of the stick can be used for play- ing the ball or making contact with the opponent's stick at a bully. Before this alteration the hooked stick was invariably used.
