SHANGHAI 3 HONGKONG 2.
They are the bare figures which show the result the the tennis laterport held over the week-end, but they give no idea of the fierce struggles, fluctuating fortunes, the magic of Gordon Lum and the wonderful come-back of the local players.
These must be told with proper attention to detail if they are to be fully realised and appreciated. It is fairly safe to say, as a preliminary, that Hongkong has never seen finer tennis than was displayed by the Shanghai visitors and our own players on Saturday and Sunday, and although Shanghai deservedly took back with them the trophy and with it the achievement of having beaten Hongkong on their own courts, a word of appreciation must be given the Colony's representa tives for their great fight.
