TENSION INCREASED AT JEHOL

Nanking, Oct. 15. The tension at Johol has been Increased following the action of Japanese troops in opening artil lery fire on Nanling yesterday morning, according to a Chinese report from Tientsin.

Tho samo report asserts that opinion in North China is divided as to whether the Japanese action is merely in the nature of a de- monstration or a prelude to major operations.

Another report states that the Japanese have mobilised six bri- gades for a vigorous drive against the Volunteers on the eastern border of Johol-Router.
