EMPIRE RADIO BROADCAST

HOME PROGRAMME ON XMAS DAY

London, Sept. 29.

It is expected that the first broadcast from the now Empire short-wave station, being con- structed at Daventry by the British Broadcasting Corporation, will take place on Christmas Day, when in effort will be made to transmit part of the Home programme round the world.

The station will begin its tests in a few weeks, but the complete service will not bo established until next year.

The decision to construct a wireless station, for broadcasting through the Empire was made known ten months ago.

The station is estimated to cost £40,000 and its maintenance £42,- 000 yearly. British Wireless.
