London, Sept. 22. FRESH OUTBREAKS OF RIOTING OCCURRED IN LIVERPOOL THIS AFTERNOON. THE UNEM- PLOYED ARE IN AN UGLY MOOD FOLLOWING A SERIES OF CLASHES WITH THE POLICE AND DEMONSTRATIONS ARE FREQUENT.
The most serious incident of the day occurred in: the late afternoon when a crowd of about a thousand gathered in one of Liverpool's principal streets and wav- ing red flags and banners attacking the police, com- menced a protest meeting, holding up all traffic.

Winnipeg, Sept. 22. Mr. John Machray, a leading figure in Canadian educational and religious circles over a con- siderable number of years, to- day pleaded guilty to the theft jof G$900,000, from the funds of Manitoba University, and also of G$60,000 from his former law partner:
He was sentenced to Heven years' penal servitude on each charge. Mr. Machray is suffering from cancer and is not expected to live for more than a few mouth. He is over sixty years of age.
