The News Chronicle has received a message from its Geneva correspondent saying that the French Government has decided on a modification of its Far Eastern policy with relation to China and Japan.

The correspondent says that this decision will mean the abandonment of France's "faintly camou- flaged support" of the Japanese action, and that France will in future "stand firmly by the League Covenant."

The message adds that the modification is due to the fact of France insisting on the strict Applica- tion of the League Covenant in the armaments dis pute with Germany-Reuter.
