CONTRACT BRIDGE

By W. E. McKenney

When playng a hand against the declarer, it is necessary to play the cards in such a manner as to give your partner a correct picture of your hand such as playing a deuce on his ace as a discouraging card, asking him to switch, while if you play a seven or eight spot, and the lower cards cannot be ac counted for, it is an encouraging card and asks partner to continue that suit. Or it he is running his own suit and you drop a high card of another sult, it shows that you would like that suit led next.
