"THAT DEPENDS," said the seller. "If we ship VIA SEATTLE it won't take so long!"
"Ship them VIA SEATTLE, then! The sooner they ar rive, the sooner we can sell them!" And the buyer wat pleased to learn of the short United States route from the Orient to American markets.
In the future, you may be assured, that buyer will specify the route VIA SCATTLE on his own requisitions. Likewise the shipper on his shipping instructions. And the story quoted above is
s repeated several hundred tipies cach year, with the natural result of increased tonnage for the modern Port of Seattle..

MURDER TRIAL ARGUMENT
COURT RESERVES ITS DECISION
The legal fight for the life of Cheng Kwok-yau concluded yester day afternoon when Full
the Court, comprising the Chief Jus tice (Sir Joseph Kemp) and the Pulsne Judge (Mr. Justice Wood) reserved decision.
Mr. Eldon Potter rose to reply to the prosecution's arguments im- mediately after the timin adjourn ment, when he said he would aub. mit two points. The first point covered a number of sub-heads and the second point was on the fact that there was no evidence to go to a jury on the question of
agency:
Dealing with the last point first, Mr. Potter said it was interesting to note that it was mentioned by the Crown only as one of their last words before the conclusion.
Mr. Potter submitted that on the points put by his learned friend Mr. Sheldon, it was impos- sible to say there was a prima facie case to go before the jury in view of the authorities he had placed before the court.
These hends submitted by the Crown were arrived at only by mere conjcclure. The suggestion regarding the chauffeur and the| whole of Zimmern und Chrisic evidence was not even in law, evi- dence of agency.
Pure Conjecture.
He put it to the court that it was pure conjecture, and if any inference could be drawn from the. evidence, which they denied, that inference would be that in fact Lau was not the authorised agent, because they would recollect that as a result of the calling of the Kang together, it was merely se that they should hold Fung whilst his face was slapped.
