South then bil live diamonds which West doubled, this becoming the final .contract at most tabies, However som: players went to five hearts which, of course, Was destibled. practically forcing South to hiti six diamonds.

The Play.

West's opening leal was the five of hearts. The jack was played From dummy. East covering with the queen the declarer trumping: with the three of diamonds. South the declarer played his ace" of clubs and then ruled the four of clubs in dummy with the five of diononds. The seven of diamonds was returned from dumny. Bast playing a spade, South the des clarer playing the lack of din. mands which West won with the king of diamonds. West led the seven of spades which the sunny wop with the King. The six of hearts was returned from dummy, East played the eight and the declarer trumped with the four of diamonds, West overtrumping with the six of diamonds. West then returned the five of spades. which the dummy won with the ace. Declarer returned the six of spades from dummy, East play- ed the ten, declarer trumped with the ten of diamonds, West dis- carding the ten of clubs.

The declarer cashed his ace and queen of diamonds and his king of clubs but was forced to grant the last two tricks to West, who theld the good queen of clubs and the nine of diamonds. Those who bad bid five diamonds were do- feated two trieks doubled which was 600 points, less 100 honors making their net loss on the hand 500 points.
