THE GREAT MEADOW

ADOPTED A BABY AND SAID WAS OWN

TO MAKE "FATHER"

HAPPY!

A young woman's infatuation for a commercial traveller which led her to adopt n baby and re- gister it as her own was disclosed at Glasgow.

of

The woman, Annie Mary Bea- trice Bonner (24), a native Aberdeen, was 'fined £5 for con- travening the Births and Dentha' Act.

The Fiscal said that on Janu- ary 7 woman gave birth to a child in a nursing home in Glas- gow and on January 16 Bonner agrood to adopt the child. She gave the name of a married wo- man and an address in Dundee.

No premium was paid for the adoption. Bonner said she desir ed the baby as she was not likely to have one of her own.

On January 18 she rogistered the child as hers and stated that

she was the wife of a commercial traveller.

The Fiscal added that for two and a half years Bonner had been going about tỉwh a. commercial traveller. In May last year she told the travollor that she was in a cortain condition, and he was apparently not in a position, said the Fiscal, to dispute his respon- sibility.

the

On January 10 this year traveller, received a telogram from Bonner that she had given birth to a child in Dundee, The child dled in March and the girl regis- tered the death.

When arrested Bonner stated that she wanted to make the man happy. "It was rather an odd way of doing it," remarked the Fiscal.

It was stated that the young wo man completely deceived the tra- veller by the false registration, and he continued to see her dur ing the lifetime of the child. It was inquiries by the travellor's ' wife that led to the discovery of what had occurred.
